Hiking and cycling lovers can let their passions run free and, if you love shopping, a few kilometres away there are many outlets and shopping centres, all at your feet!

Arezzo

Arezzo is a small city rich in history, art and culture. We’ll give you a few suggestions on “piazza” and churches to visit while strolling through the streets of the historic centre. Piazza Grande (or piazza Vasari) is the oldest piazza in the city. Here, many scenes of the movie “La vita é bella” were shot, directed by, and starring Roberto Benigni. Two times a year it also hosts the Saracen Joust of Arezzo two times a year, which is a historic reenactment that attracts thousands of tourists. In piazza San Francesco you can admire the Basilica dedicated to the Saint and inside the Basilica you will find Piero della Francesca’s masterpieces. You can’t miss out on the Pieve di Santa Maria, in Corso Italia, the Cathedral of San Donato, the Basilicia of San Domenico, the Medici Fortress and the Roman amphitheatre with an Archaeological Museum attached.

The surroundings

Arezzo is positioned in a strategic location to visit Tuscany and Umbria. Florence, Siena, Pisa and Perugia are only one hour drive from Arezzo, which is great for a day trip! For a shorter trip you can pick many small medieval towns with historic centres in perfect conditions: Cortona, Anghiari, Castiglion Fiorentino and Monte San Savino are just a few examples.

Outdoor activities

Rapolano Terme is a thermal bathing area a few kilometres from here. It’s the right place for you if you want to enjoy a day of total relax. You could also go to “Bagno Vignoni” or to “Bagni San Filippo” as an alternative option. They are natural thermal baths that are free to use. This area has many stimulating activities for kids as well. The adventure park “Saltalbero” is perfect to spend a day with the family in a fun and exciting place! Hiking lovers, on the other hand, can leave the stress and smog of the big city behind and walk the paths of the “the Casentinesi Forests Natural Park”, that is again, only a few kilometres from here. For the sporty type that don’t want to miss out on exercise even on holiday, there are many medium and long cycling routes. Here you can find a few suggestions.

Shopping

For shopping lovers there is an abundance of outlets and shopping centres. A few kilometres from us you can find the Space Prada outlet ((Called Prada Levanella on Google maps)where you can buy Prada clothes and accessories for him and her at very convenient prices. If you love high fashion, in Incisa (40 km from us) there is The Mall,a luxury outlet with brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Emporio Armani and many more. The Valdichiana Outlet Villageis just located 20 kilometres away from us and you can find many shops and ideas to update your wardrobe.

Where to eat

Arezzo has so much to offer regarding the culinary arts. You can find many local restaurants, with different atmospheres and styles to enjoy your meal made with local products. Here are some ideas. Trattoria “il Cantuccio” is in the historic centre and we recommend the pasta bake, roast-beef or roasted rabbit… a mouth-watering prospect! To dine in a historical and very chic atmosphere we suggest “Le Logge Vasari” or Dario e Anna,in Piazza Grande. You can do a tasting of Tuscan oils and wines or allow yourselves a Chianina steak that is of the very best quality. For an excellent typical Tuscan dinner outside the city walls we recommend “Le Bindi” at Monte San Savino (a beautiful village that is definitely worth the visit), or the “Badio restaurant” in Coltibuona with a elegant and friendly warm.

Tasting

The large boundary of the Chianti cover the fertile lands of Arezzo with all its vineyards, and many opportunities to try the wine from this area. We recommend “Podere di Pomaio” to taste an amazing organic wine.
